The construction of the Ranger Station at Amakwa within the Kaieteur National Park has been completed. It will provide a safe working space and living quarters for the rangers and field staff of the Protected Areas Commission.
The key activities which were undertaken by Grimmond’s Electrical and Transportation Service, the contractor, include the construction of a multi-purpose building, installation of plumbling and electrical systems and painting. Engineering services were provided by Sizwe Jackson Consultancy Services.
The Government of Guyana project was implemented as part of the Guyana Protected Areas System Project with grant funding provided by the Government of Germany, through the Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau (KfW) – German Development Bank.
The Construction period was scheduled for 10 months with all works being done in accordance with the designs and technical specifications while at the same time observing all the environmental benchmark and sensitive of the Protected Area.
The conteact was valued at $55.55 million and completed in June 2023.
